Founder of the Makuk cooperative, Rossana Arias, born in Curicó, has merged her textile and goldsmith techniques in a stunning fashion. Rossana first learned the art of Makuk — a weaving technique with precious metal threads — from nuns while she was living in an orphanage. The skill then lay dormant for years, until she uncovered those memories as an adult; she had all the knowledge in a technique that she hadn’t thought of since she was a child. From then on, she knew she had to use her skills to keep the tradition alive. With each unique piece of hand knitted jewelry, she delivers part of her life story with the talents she learned as a young girl in Chile.
