King’s Companion Wood Wall Mask
Masks are presented as a marriage proposal among the Hausa people of Nigeria. If the mask is not returned, the proposal has been accepted. This contemporary example by Abdul Aziz Mohamadu, is hand-carved of native rubberwood, adorned with intricate nail head patterns and given a white clay finish for an aged effect.
