Rainbow Pangolin Hand Crafted Copal Wood Pangolin Alebrije from Mexico
Claudio Ojeda transforms one of the most mystical creatures in the animal kingdom into alebrije form. He carves it from copal wood and hand-paints its scales with a combination of linear and geometric patterns in bright yellow, spring green, and blue against a flame orange background.
Claudio learned to craft alebrijes as a young child from his mother. His work embodies her motto – bring the alebrijes to life by painting them with love and care.
