Promise of Prosperity Bead and Brass Repousse African Wall Mask with Animal Motifs
Birds are embossed in gleaming brass to alight on an African mask. By Abdul Aziz Mohamadu, this circular face reveals a cowry shell silhouette on the forehead. Such shells were once used as currency in West Africa. Named Hyebo, meaning ‘promise’ in the Akan language, the mask is carved from sese wood.
