Daimuwa III Hand Carved African Wood Mask with Embossed Aluminum
Abdul Aziz Mohamadu creates the original design of this mask which he names Daimuwa, the Hausa term for ‘persisting to get something accomplished.’ He is inspired by those worn by the Chamba tribes of Nigeria during their Chambalare festival, which celebrates the abundance of food after a prolonged period of drought and hunger. A mask of striking beauty, it is carved by hand of African rubberwood, adorned with embossed aluminum on the forehead, nose, cheeks and mouth, and finished with painted details.
