For Unity African Wood Mask
Serenely beautiful, a stylized face seems to gaze into the distance as though dreaming. Intricate textures in aluminum repoussé cover the cheeks, nose and forehead of this elegant mask. Named Biakoye – ‘Unity’ in the Akan language, it attests to Walter Kuma’s carving skills. ‘I want to tell the world that when there is unity among all people, we will be able to do our work well,’ he says.
