Funded: Help Aggie Walk Again After Spine Paralysis
Aggie lived most of her life as a stray on the streets of Greece. While Aggie was being rescued by local shelter staff, a passerby callously shot her in the spine. She was rushed to a hospital for emergency surgery.
Doctors treated and dressed Aggie’s gunshot wound in addition to giving her medicine for pain management. Due to the gunshot wound in her spine, Aggie lost nearly all mobility in her hind legs. However, with physiotherapy and disability-friendly improvements to her shelter, Aggie can live a more normal life and learn to walk again.Â
We need your help. With further treatment Aggie could take her first steps since being shot, but this process could take several months. Will you help Aggie and other injured dogs in Greece receive medical care?
Help Aggie learn to walk again after traumatic gunshot injury!
In late 2023, Greater Good Charities were approached by groups working in the city of Xanthi, Northern Greece, to assist in the support of over 600 dogs seeking out an existence in and around a municipal rubbish site. Since then, working alongside the Animal Rescue Site and community partners, they have provided food, specialist medical care, funded high quality spay-neuter services and supported foster and adoption for dozens of dogs.
Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, Greater Good Charities and the Animal Rescue Site are in the process of deepening our commitment to the dogs of Xanthi, ensuring every animal has the support it needs. We are also expanding our reach to several new areas within Greece, supporting both cats and dogs in need.
Aggie is just one of the many pets we’re helping in Greece, but we can’t cover her ongoing care without your support. Help us meet our goal of $4,000 for Aggie and pets like her. Any funds raised over the goal amount will go to Greater Good Charities’ lifesaving programs.Â
