Bobo Ceremony Burkina Faso African Mask Hand Carved from Native Wood
Well-known for their prolific use of masks during ceremonies, the Bobo peoples live in the Upper Volta region of Burkina Faso and Mali. Salihu Ibrahim in Ghana presents this Bobo-style mask, hand-carved from West African hardwood. The helmet-shaped mask features a protuberant nose and a collar etched with a geometric motif. The mask is intended for tabletop display.
