Danyi Handcrafted African Festival Wood Mask
This highly expressive mask with a fierce visage is adorned with snakes around the face and is worn by the Akipinis people for the Danyibakaka Festival. The event celebrates the historic crossing of the Danyi River with the aid of serpents. Once they crossed they settled there, forming the Danyi district near the town of Kpando. Sinclair Yao Daley hand-carves a loyal sese wood replica of this celebratory mask.
