Ekene Artisan Crafted African Wood Mask with Metal Accents
This original design from Ghanaian artisan Abdul Aziz Mohamadu is named ekene, which means ‘praise’ in the Igbo language of Nigeria. The artisan carves the mask by hand from rubberwood, an African hardwood, and embellishes it with embossed aluminum plates and paint in red and mustard shades.
