Help Save Newborn Kittens
Newborn kittens are so sweet, cute and dependent on their mother and litter. When a kitten is born and left a stray, or abandoned by their mother or taken from their family the mortality rate for these kittens is around 75%. Without support, these kittens often times will perish.Â
When kittens are found or turned over to shelters, the rescues will use their financial resources to provide food and medical care for these sweet fur babies that are usually in desperate need of help. As a result some of the extras that could make a huge difference in the life of a kitten, often cannot be afforded. At most times, there will be many kittens or multiple litters at a shelter, which can make feeding these fur babies a challenge. It can be especially difficult, because depending on what the shelter veterinarian recommends, kittens will need to be fed up to six times a day. Kittens need a steady stream of nutrients, as well as warmth to survive.Â
You can provide the gift of warmth to a kitten in need by sending a large heating rice bag. Shelter workers will heat up these bags and place with kittens that have been found alone, without a mother or with kittens that just need some extra heat. Kittens under four weeks old cannot regulate their body heat and rely on external heat sources. Most times, a kitten relies on their mother and other litter members to provide them with heat when they are huddled together. These rice bags will provide essential heat for survival and comfort, with its super soft material, these kittens are sure to stay cozy. The rice bags are also easily transported if needed on a rescue or during transport and are also relatively easy to clean.
There is also the option to send a multi-feeder for kittens who rely on nutrients from formula. Kittens around 2 weeks old need to eat every 2-3 hours and then when they are bit older they can eat every 4-6 hours. The formula provides essential nutrients for a kitten to grow and become a strong healthy cat. When there are multiple kittens at a shelter that need to be fed, it can be difficult to ensure they are all fed in a timely manner. This soft material multi feeder allows 3 kittens to feed at a time and simulates the normal feeding process for a kitten, instead of getting formula out of a bottle. It offers the kitten a similar feeling to what it would be like if their momma cat was there. Multi feeders also allow the kittens to create a bond with the other kittens & litter mates who are feeding as well.Â
Help these sweet little animals survive and thrive by sending a rice bag that will provide warmth and comfort. Send a multi feeder to ensure these kittens get the nutrients they need. Sending one of each will help a small litter of kittens or help a larger litter and we’ll send two large rice bags and two multi feeders on your behalf! Some of these good will also go to puppies in need!
