Project Peril: Protect the Pangolin from Extinction
Time is Running Out for the Endangered Pangolin!
The pangolin, known for its beautiful, armor-like scales, is rapidly disappearing. They are the most trafficked mammal in the world due to being illegally poached for their meat and scales. Now, pangolins are critically endangered and only a few remain. Will you help us stop this?
Greater Good Charities has been working with Wildlife At-Risk to build pangolin enclosures and protect these animals from extinction. These enclosures act as rehabilitation centers for species rescued from the trafficking trade and provide the opportunity for a breeding program in hopes of helping recover/populate the dwindling wild pangolin populations. The breeding program has already proved successful. Last November, a baby pangolin, known as a pangopup, was born! Now, there are five pangolins in the enclosure – four adults and the sweet baby pangopup.
Now, our Global Discovery Expeditions team is heading to Vietnam to further our efforts to save species like the pangolin. With our team of Vietnamese and American scientists, we’re researching Vietnam’s diverse ecosystems and species in order to propel conservation efforts forward. This research is a vital step in the continued protection of endangered animals like the pangolin.
Together, we can save animals like this baby pangolin from poaching and habitat loss. Give now.
