Reverent Oxidized Copper Decorative Funeral Mask Statuette
The contemplative, reverent gaze of this copper and bronze decorative mask statuette is fitting with its inspiration, the masks used in funeral ceremonies of Lamyayeque pre-Columbian cultures in the north of Peru during the 8th and 15th centuries. The squared-off shape and accessories denote royalty. Both sides feature the intricate face, each with different embellishments for the mouth. Designed by Ana Maria Enciso of Peru, the statuette is made of oxidized copper with bronze and polished copper accents and stands on a brass rod on a jasper base.
